Editing Assignment #4 – Documentary Sequence

For this assignment, your aim is to produce a compelling sequence. It should be short, 45-90 seconds. It should be a coherent sequence that would fit into a larger story. It might include some interview footage or voice-over narration or live action or still images or music or all of the above. I’ll let you be as creative as you want. We’ve seen that documentarians do a lot of different things: present still images in cool ways (Ken Burns, Civil War), present beautiful live action juxtaposed with poetic narration (Alain Resnais, Night and Fog), present straight interviews with experts and participants, present “vérité” interviews with experts and participants, reenact imagined (or true) events, etc.

Once again, I encourage you to work in groups, but you should each turn in your own assignment.

When you are done, upload your film to OneDrive and share with me – then post link to the Moodle assignment.
